How do I configure hotlink protection?

To prevent others from the bandwidth theft and misusing the content on your pages, hotlink protection is the best way. If you don’t configure hotlink protection, someone can use your content for instance your images on their website by using the URL in their code. Configure hotlink protection in cPanle to avoid bandwidth theft.

Login to your cPanel

“Hotlink Protection” is located within the “Security” category






Once inside “Hotlink Protection” you can “Enable” or “Disable” hotlinking by clicking on the button

The area under “URL to Allow Access” enter the domain and subdomains you want to give access to your server resources

“Block direct access for these extensions (separate by commas)” is the area where you can specify the extension of files you want to block direct access to. You will see several common extension already listed in the area by default.

The check box which says “Allow Direct Access” will let you allow or disallow the direct access to the file

“Redirect access to this URL” allow you to enter a redirect page URL for request that try to enter hotlink protected file. “Hotlinking is not allowed” can be the page for redirection.





 "Submit" button will save the Hotlink settings
